Real Rooms: Thalita Dol

Mummy: Thalita Dol
Kidlet:
Lilla (8 months)
Location:
Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
Bio:
Thalita says it best: “I’m a girl. That’s what my name means! I’m an illustrator for a living, but I love lots of other things too! I love to draw -indeed-, but also to decorate and to sew. I love animals and kids and gardens. I love being a wife for my husband Rodrigo and a mommy to my daugther Lilla. I love singing and playing. I love bird houses and smiles and bunnys. And more than all I love Jesus, my savior!” The room she created for Lilla is a bold and colourful, nature themed oasis. My favourite details are the beautiful tree which Thalita hand-painted onto the wall, the hanging birdcage with vintage fabric stuffed birds, the ‘vintage’ toys that were Thalita’s when she was a child (she wonders if Lilla will understand what an LP is!) and the beautiful hand-sewn name plaque.

And here are a few of the beautiful prints that Thalita sells on Etsy. They’re very reasonably priced and would look beautiful in any nursery. My favourite is the Free Bird print. My Mum always likes to remind me of the time I set our bird free because I felt it wanted to be out flying with its friends ;-)

I love the little birdies painted on the wall. Yes – I well remember the ‘let’s leave the cage door open so it can visit its friends’, scenario!
