Giveaway: Zoobie Pet.

2011 January 11
by Maddie

From: Little Yoyo Styles
In the immortal words of Cher, “If I could turn back time…” When Aspen was a little tiny thing, (so crazy to think that was only a year and a half ago) she had a multitude of softies and blankets to call her binkie but she settled on a knitted blanket made by a fabulous friend of mine. It was a beautiful blanket. Soft wide-knit wool with a cute little knitted edge. In the hands of any other child, it would have been fantastic as a ‘special blankie’ but in Aspen’s hands, it has become a piece of wearable performance art. Part poncho/part loose-thread ‘derelicte’ fashion ensemble, she has managed to create so many large holes in the blanket that it’s a wonder the thing is still hanging together! Of course, nothing I do can convince her that her favourite thing in the world should go bye-bye. She loves that thing more than I love chocolate. Which is a lot.

So of course, it’s too late for poor Zoobie Pet. Aspen loves her little pink hippo. She loves how soft and snuggly it is. She loves that it can kiss her beagle softie. She loves carrying it around the house and talking to it in her garbled language. She loves rubbing the blanket that folds out of its centre. But sadly, she doesn’t love it enough to let special blankie go. Such a shame. If I had my time again, Zoobie would be featured at all times so it could be the much-loved special blankie! So much easier to clean – you can even zip out the (ultra-soft) blanket and wash that while the kidlet happily snuggles the hippo part (or vice versa). No more tantrums at laundry time! The pillow would also come in handy on long road trips. Sigh…if only… I think maybe hippo and I need to have a little chat…I’m thinking blankie might have a little ‘accident’…
