Here we go again.

We got hit pretty badly today. So stupid to say ‘hit’ since we’ve been ‘hit’ with an aftershock every few days since the first earthquake showed up in September of last year. You could say we’ve become pretty good at working out the magnitude of aftershocks. After all, we’ve had almost three thousand now, but nothing quite prepares you for the kind of earthquake that knocks you off your feet and makes your house and neighbourhood shake back and forth like you’re a toy being fought over by two angry toddlers.
Coco (in true Coco fashion) FREAKED, found her way out of our yard and ran away AGAIN! She came home hours later though. *Going to have to get a steel fence around our yard methinks* Our daughter, on the other hand, was having her nap when the 5.8 hit and SLEPT THROUGH IT! How does she DO this?! I stood in her doorway and watched as her bed shook right and left with every shake and she slept on silently like she was on a peaceful little cloud!
When the 6.3 hit, we were all together (hubby had come home from work and Aspen was playing in the lounge). We ran out of there quick smart (well hubby found it hard to get to his feet). Just like February, we stood on our lawn as the house and trees and ground beneath our feet swayed from side to side like a boat in rough seas. It’s something I haven’t quite gotten used to. The ground should really stay put in my opinion!
Anyway, we are all good. We had power throughout (unbelievably) and we had our water restored by nighttime. My prayers go out to families still without power on this cold winter’s night. Please send good vibes our way that tonight isn’t too wobbly. We could all do with a good night’s sleep.
*As you can see from the picture, the paper cranes got a little jostled. Feel free to send a few more our way. We’re only 97 off our target to make this city stop shaking once and for all*

sending some warmth your way!
I can’t imagine how to cope with this every day for months..
lucky little girl you have sleeping right through it.
Thanks for your updates, there is no way to imagine what it must be like there but I feel like I get a better understanding from real stories than the media’s obsession with numbers. What an awful time of year for families to have no power. : (
Hope you sleep well! We are in a similar situation as you. Power still on…water disappeared for a while but is back (kind of dribbles out the tap). So lucky compared to some! Still a bit freaked though. It’s so crazy how your world can change in an instant.
