The week that was: Dalai Lama, Desserts and DIY.

What an amazing start to the week – the Dalai Lama came to visit our little city! I’ve spoken about it on Facebook but it was truly a privilege to have the opportunity to see the Dalai Lama in person. It was an incredibly moving moment when the crowd got to its feet and cheered when he entered and gave comfort to the families that lost loved ones in the earthquake.

“Look Mum, it’s the Dalai Lama!”

I was invited to my first ever Dessert Party! Believe me, it was as delicious as it sounds…that rhubarb fool was decadently delicious! Not only did I get to hang out with some awesome blogging ladies, I also went home with a beautiful quilt from Cat of Catalina’s Cottage. With the help of some talented readers around the world, she has donated over 70 quilts to needy families in Christchurch since the earthquake.

I was interviewed about the Thousand Crane Project and Li’l Quake Appeal charity auction by local magazine Latitude and realised that my hair since becoming a Mum has become a disgrace so chopped my fringe as a temporary measure. Meanwhile Coco was pleased as punch to have made it into the magazine. You can tell from her super excited expression, can’t you?

My BFF moved into an awesome new house so when I found this little wooden shelf for two dollars at the secondhand store, I knew I had to do something with it as a house-warming gift. Since the backing wasn’t in the best condition, I decided to line the inside with some pages from an old story book (with the help of my favourite ModPodge). I think it looks super cute and can’t wait to see it full of her lovely little things.
