Spot the difference.

Can you believe it’s only been three weeks since we left Christchurch? It already feels like months because so much has happened in such a short time. Starting your life again in a new country (albeit an old haunting ground), requires a truckload of form-filling, bankcard applications, car purchases, rental house viewing and medicare redtape. Not to mention adapting to a new way of life: hotter temperatures, (lots) more traffic, different ways of using your debit card in the supermarket (when did THAT happen?!), higher prices for daycare and bananas (but not petrol)… it’s a whole lot to take in all at once. Luckily we’ve done it all before and Australia is much more familiar to us than a Canadian city but things still feel a little crazy right now.

You would have read on Facebook or Twitter that I am without internet right now (and if you’re not following me, you are SO missing out on important information like the case of the lost (and then found) special blankie, encounters with bearded dragons and my restraint re: visiting Ikea. Riveting stuff!). What began as the world’s worst internet connection has turned into intermittent reception. It is testament to the vast amounts of patience I have discovered since becoming a Mum that I haven’t taken down names, made terse phonecalls and/or threatened to take legal action to make sure everyone concerned realised the earth-shattering importance of having my internets!! *sigh* I have grown up so much over the last few years…

I’m trying my best to use the small periods of internet time to post things up and I’ll fight the good fight until we move out of this hotel and into our cable-enabled house (let’s all make a global wish that customs clears our furniture in record time!)  and in the meantime, please be gentle with me. It’s a whole new world out here and I think I may have left my brain in Christchurch!
