Every Christmas Eve we read The Night Before Christmas together as a family. Each year a different person gets a turn to read. It is such a lovely thing when a child who has just learned to read gets to read the story to the whole big family.

we have a little tradition that is in its second year of having a picture book advent calendar. a little expensive but well worth adding the the family book collection.

In out family we absolutely MUST decorate the tree (all of us) while a Dean Martin Christmas CD croons in the background. Every year, my two kids make paint handprints which we cut out, laminate and add to the handprint ‘garland’ which we string up across our living room wall.

My favourite tradition is making Christmas mince pies – it was always my job to make them at home when i was younger and have kept doing it ever since. Pity theres no such thing as Christmas mince in New Caledonia – it just doesnt feel like Christmas without them!

Love the look of the books!!

Every year we go see the Macy’s Light Show and then head home for an afternoon of gingerbread train and cookie tree making with good friends of ours. The kids really enjoy decorating their trees and trains, but more than that eating them after they’re finished!

I like working puzzles with my children in front of the Christmas tree while a fire burns in the fireplace. Mostly I enjoy and appreciate any activity that brings us together and slows our hectic schedule down.

Favorite Christmas tradition – getting up early, taking down the stocking and opening all the little presents in them as Mom (me) makes scrambled eggs and bacon & Pillsbury cinnamon buns with hot chocolate – we eat gathered around the tree speculating about what is in the wrapped presents – then after we all finish, presents are opened.

My favorite tradition is filling the bottom of the tree with presents for my family. I love to see the kids faces when they wake. The joy in their eyes is heart warming.

My fav Christmas tradition (apart from the frozen strawberry margaritas) is the way we do presents for adults – we each buy a $20 gift, then at gift giving time we draw a number and that is the order you get to choose/open your gift, but you really want to be last because after you have opened your gift you can choose to swap it with any already opened gifts – it ends in a great deal of laughter and makes only opening one gift a lot of fun.

PS I love the look of those books – looks like lots of crafting fun.

On Christmas morning after church all the family gather around the Christmas tree. The oldest person, my Father plays ‘Santa’ . He takes a gift from under the tree & says the name. The youngest person, is the ‘elf’, and they do the running around the room and hand the gift to the person named. As new Grandchildren are born, the youngest changes all the time. Babies have to wait until they become toddlers to be an elf.

Easily my favorite family Christmas tradition.

    Hi
My favourite family tradition is to spend Christmas eve with my husband and two children. We go out somewhere for tea (usually the beach with hot chips) and then come home, open the presents we have got each other. This way no matter what else happens during the festive season we have spent time together as a family enjoying each others company.
Thanks for sharing the books, I would love to add these to my craft book collection at some stage.

Instead of a star or an angel we have a Xmas pig for the top of our tree. We alternate which kid gets to do it every year and always take a photo!

My Christmas tradition is to give my boys a Christmas book on Dec 1st every year and a decoration I have made for their collection. Get out the tree and decorate it together. Then read our collection of Christmas books as we work our way toward Christmas. Great giveaway!

Ooh fun giveaway! I’m always up for increasing my craft book knowledge/collection (even if Birdi is too young just yet!) My favorite tradition has got to be making molasses cookies and decorating them as a family. The smell alone turns me into a 7 year old.

My favorite Christmas is breakfast with my mom. She is a nurse, so there are years we are unable to have it and it is heartbreaking for all of us. There is nothing better than all of us having breakfast together and opening up the stockings she very carefully puts together for every single one of us. As our family grows larger and larger, this is the one constant and everyone looks forward to it. We love our Mimi!
